Chief Digital Officer
The news,wherever ourreaders are.
Sarvoday Shantidoot has spent years earning its readers' trust on paper. My job is to make sure that trust travels to the screens people now hold in their hands.

A word to our readers
By Harshit Tripathi
I am Harshit Tripathi, and I have joined Sarvoday Shantidoot as its Chief Digital Officer. I take this responsibility seriously, because this newspaper has earned something that no software can build on its own: the trust of its readers. My task is to protect that trust while carrying it, carefully and confidently, into the digital age.
The way people read has changed. A reader in a big city and a reader in a small village now reach for the same device first, and they often meet the news in a message, a short video or a social post before they ever see a printed page. If our reporting is not present there, easy to find and quick to open, then we are absent from the moment that matters. The goal is simple: the same work, the same standards, but delivered where our readers already are.
The website comes first. It should load quickly on any phone, even on a slow connection, and it should be pleasant to read without clutter. Clear sections, a proper search, a tidy archive and a design that respects the story are the basics, and we intend to get every one of them right before we add anything fancy.
Our social pages come next. Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and WhatsApp will each carry the voice of Sarvoday Shantidoot in a regular and dependable way. That does not mean posting more for the sake of it. It means posting what is useful, at the right time, with the same care for facts that we show in print, and treating breaking news with extra caution rather than extra speed.
Technology should make the newspaper easier to read, never harder to trust.
Video and audio will add something a printed column cannot: the sound of a place, the face of a person, the scale of an event. We will begin with short reports, ground coverage, interviews and explainers, and we will train our reporters to shoot and edit with the phones they already carry, so that good storytelling does not depend on expensive equipment.
A proper digital edition and a daily newsletter will make sure no reader misses a front page, whether they live across town, in another state or in another country. Anyone who loves the newspaper should be able to open it in the morning with a single tap.
Listening to our readers is just as important as speaking to them. By studying what people read, share and ask about, we can better understand what the community needs from us. This is not about chasing clicks. Editorial judgement stays with our editors, where it belongs, but it will be informed by the real interests and concerns of the people we serve.
Accuracy and security sit underneath everything else. Facts will be checked before anything goes live, and corrections, when needed, will be visible and prompt. Behind the scenes we will strengthen our accounts, backups and systems, and we will protect the information our readers share with us, using it only for the purpose for which it was given.
The newsroom itself is the final piece. New tools are only useful if they are simple to use, so we will build routines that help our journalists rather than burden them, and we will invest in training so that every member of the team feels comfortable in the digital world. In the first months we will listen and learn, then repair whatever is slow or broken, and only then launch the new look and the new channels.
This is not a project that one person can carry out alone. It will succeed only if our readers, writers, editors and well-wishers work with us. If you have an idea, a story, a complaint or simply a word of advice, I would like to hear it. Please use the form below, and I promise it will be read.
Write to us.
Tell us what you would like to read, what is not working on our pages, or how we can serve you better. Every message reaches me directly.
Thank you.
